Jewish Conejo Valley Green Initiative Program: Using the GreenFaith Certification program as a model, coordinating a community wide green certification program for the nine synagogues and two Jewish Days Schools in the Conejo Valley.
Community Garden Project of Thousand Oaks: On a public school facility, establishing an inter-faith community garden based on the principals of Helping Hands Gardens (a program initiated by Gabe Goldman, Ph.D. of AJU-Brandeis Campus). A portion of all food grown will be donated to community food banks and homeless shelters, as well as onsite gardening and food education.
Building Capacity for Jewish Farmers and Gardeners: Ellen Bernstein, M.A. is acting as a mentor to individuals who are doing extraordinary work in the field of Jewish community environmental education through farming and gardening. Her tasks include consulting with them on community organizing, networking and grant writing. www.ellenbernstein.org
